Pearl Dazzle Sizing & Measurement Policy
At Pearl Dazzle, each costume is created using a computer-based pattern drafting system based on the final measurements submitted by the customer.
Because every dancer’s body and growth pattern is different, accurate measurements are essential to achieving the best possible fit.
Please read this policy carefully before submitting your Measurement Form.
1. Customer Measurement Responsibility
Customers are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and carefully checked measurements.
Please:
- Measure the dancer at the time the form is submitted.
- Do not estimate measurements.
- Do not copy measurements from an older costume.
- Do not measure over loose or bulky clothing.
- Have the dancer wear a fitted leotard or fitted dancewear while being measured.
- Double-check every number before submitting the form.
The measurements submitted are considered the final measurements authorized for production.
Pearl Dazzle is not responsible for fit issues, alteration costs, or remakes resulting from incorrect, incomplete, estimated, incorrectly entered, or outdated measurements.
2. Growth Allowance
Every dancer grows differently, and parents usually know their dancer’s growth pattern best.
Pearl Dazzle does not automatically add growth allowance.
Please submit the final measurements you would like us to use for production.
If your dancer is still growing and you would like additional room, please adjust the measurements before submitting the form based on:
- Your dancer’s individual growth rate
- How long you need the costume to fit
- Your dancer’s body type
- Your preferred level of comfort and fit
When measuring, the tape should sit comfortably against the body and should not be pulled excessively tight.
For growing dancers, you may choose to allow a small amount of comfortable ease, such as approximately one finger of room, where appropriate.
If no additional room is included in the measurements you submit, Pearl Dazzle will produce the costume according to the numbers provided.
Please keep in mind that adding too much room may cause the costume to fit loosely or less securely when first received.
Pearl Dazzle cannot predict how quickly an individual dancer will grow.
3. Changes After Measurements Are Submitted
Once production begins, measurement changes may no longer be possible.
If your dancer’s measurements change significantly after submission, please contact us before production begins whenever possible.
If a change can still be accommodated, additional fees and additional production time may apply.
Pearl Dazzle is not responsible for fit changes caused by the dancer growing or changing measurements after the final Measurement Form has been submitted.
4. Measurement Review & Recheck
Pearl Dazzle may review submitted measurements for consistency before or during production.
If a number appears unusual, inconsistent, or significantly outside the expected proportion, we may request:
- A re-measurement
- A tape-on-body photo
- Additional measurements
- A full-body proportion photo
The dancer’s face does not need to be shown in measurement or proportion photos.
If we request a measurement recheck, please respond within the timeframe provided.
If corrected measurements or requested information are not provided on time, your order may be placed on hold while we continue with the next scheduled orders.
Any resulting production or delivery delay caused by missing, incomplete, or late measurement information is not considered a Pearl Dazzle production delay.
5. How Stretch Dance Costumes Are Sized
Dance costumes are made with stretch fabrics and are designed to fit the dancer while worn on the body.
Many stretch garments use negative ease, meaning the garment may measure smaller while unstretched and then stretch to the intended body measurement when worn.
For this reason, measuring a finished costume while it is lying flat and comparing that number directly to the dancer’s body measurement is not an accurate way to determine whether the costume was made to the correct size.
Fit concerns must be evaluated using:
- The dancer’s current body measurements
- The measurements originally submitted
- How the costume fits while being worn
6. If You Have a Fit Concern
If you believe there is a sizing issue, please contact us and provide the dancer’s current:
- Bust
- Waist
- Hips
- Girth
We may ask for photos showing the measuring tape correctly positioned on the dancer with the number visible.
Please have the dancer wear a fitted leotard or fitted dancewear. The dancer’s face does not need to appear in the photos.
We need updated measurements to determine:
- Whether the issue is related to the measurements originally submitted.
- What alteration or solution may be appropriate.
We cannot accurately evaluate a sizing concern without current measurements.
7. Alteration Options
If an adjustment is needed, the best solution will depend on the specific fit issue, costume construction, deadline, and our current production schedule.
Possible options may include:
Local Alteration
A local tailor or seamstress is often the fastest and most accurate option because the dancer can be fitted in person.
When appropriate, Pearl Dazzle may be able to provide matching fabric or materials for the alteration.
Pearl Dazzle Alteration
If the alteration is relatively simple, there is enough time, and our schedule allows, Pearl Dazzle may be able to assist.
Alterations are not automatically free and may require an additional fee.
Because the dancer is not physically present with us for fitting, some alterations may be more accurately completed by a local professional.
8. Resale / Replacement Options
If alteration is not the best solution, customers may choose to list the costume through the Pearl Dazzle resale community and purchase another costume in the correct size.
In certain situations, and when our schedule allows, Pearl Dazzle may also be able to assist with resale.
Resale availability, timing, and sale price are not guaranteed.
Any resale proceeds will be handled according to the resale arrangement agreed upon for that specific costume.
9. Measurement Confirmation
By submitting the Pearl Dazzle Measurement Form, you confirm that:
- You have reviewed and checked the measurements provided.
- The measurements submitted are the final measurements you authorize Pearl Dazzle to use for production.
- You understand that Pearl Dazzle does not automatically add growth allowance.
- You are responsible for deciding how much growth allowance, if any, to include.
- You understand that incorrect measurements or changes in the dancer’s body after submission may affect the final fit.
- You understand that customer-caused measurement delays may affect the production or delivery timeline.
